An San Francisco House with Amazing Attic

Architect Visit: Mork-Ulnes in San Francisco on the AIA Tour by Julie

From: remodelista.com

Issue 34 · Summer Travels · August 26, 2009
Here's a preview of one of the house's on this year's AIA San Francisco Home Tour: a renovated 19th century Victorian on Clayton Street, in the Haight, by Mork-Ulnes Design. The architects used salvaged floorboards, denim insulation, no-VOC finishes, and radiant heating in the construction to "contribute to the ethos of this former hippie flat." Photos by Bruce Damante.

Bright and Dynamic Apartment

Via: fresh home

modern apartment Freshome132 Bright and Dynamic Apartment, Lovely Roof Terrace Included
This charming attic apartment has 2, 5 rooms plus kitchen and stretches over a living area of 63 square meters, out of which a delightful roof terrace occupies 10. As you can see from the photos and the sketch at the end of the post, the crib is accessed via a small hallway, which communicates with the newly renovated kitchen and the dining area. The open plan living room would definitely impress its viewers in a tour of this home, as it features an eye-catching red sofa, complemented by a small wooden coffee table, charming shelving units and flower pots which contribute to the vivid atmosphere. At the end of the “room chain”, there is a welcoming bedroom with a small window above the large bed. We invite you to have a look at the colorful decorative elements this place has to offer and tell us what caught your attention.

Apartment In The Attic

Apartment In The Attic by Studio Damilano

Via: fresh home

Attic renovations are not in a lot of people’s favorites lists. The unusual angles make it really hard for one to come up with furniture ideas that would fit in weird places and sometimes maintenance can raise more problems than in a usual apartment. The Atticus apartment project belongs to Studio Damilano and is actually a make-over of an old attic space. Every single room in this chic apartment amazes due to its great design and modern furniture approaches. Even though the space (240 sqm) is not as large as we got you used to here on Freshome, the two bedrooms, living room, two bathrooms and kitchen are more than enough for a great living. -via Hdf

FAITH'S TREE HOUSE VISIT

FAITH'S TREE HOUSE VISIT

From: oldbrandnew.com

11 January 2012

Faith recently launched her awesome site, Call Me Faith which you need to check out because it features all her beautiful interior design projects. I did a few snaps of her home for her portfolio and my goodness, was I in boho-centric wonderland. Every corner is carefully curated to tell an interesting story. There's a quirky charm to it all, too, like that ladylegs nutcracker. Her home is both lived in and inviting. The second I walked in, I was greeted by Faith's vibrant spirit, plus a chilled glass of vino. Now, that's how you do! Oh, and did I forget to mention that she's Justina's sis. Amazingness runs in the family so I'm inspired to the double max!

And now, let's hear Faith talk about her fun tree house. Wish I could hang out there everyday! Take it away Faith! —

The house was built 100 years ago as a two story, one family home. I think the house is about 650 sq ft. In the 50's it was converted into a main house with an 'inlaw suite' above. These sort of constructions are often illegal these days due to zoning restrictions, so we feel extra lucky to live up here in this funny little 'in law suite'.

I am totally inspired by small spaces and the cozy, intimate experience that they can create. I have a fetish for house boats, trailers and tree houses. What makes our house so particular is that it has these small spaces, with funny shapes to the rooms, and the abundance of windows and light also give a sense of airy freshness. It's a winning combo ;-)

My personal style is eclectic. I like objects and art from all over the world that tell a story, provoke laughter and joy. When I travel or am living abroad the first places I go to are the thrift stores. So my home is full of funny little treasures from all over.
